Fort JesusFort Jesus

Visit fort Jesus museum for a historical view of the various peoples who colonised the coast. Fort Jesus is a 600year old fort built by the Portuguese later on used as a prison where political prisoners were held. It is in the old town so you can combine the tour. Check with your hotel for the Son et Lumiere sound and light show held every Tuesday evening. Worth experiencing.

Tamarind DhowTamarind Dhow Safari

This romantic Arab-style dhow trip where you have meal and cruise down the channel between the North coast and the island. You go for this 4 hour dhow ride either lunch or dinner. For lunch, depart hotel at 11.30pm and for dinner depart at 1800 hours for the lunch cruise or evening cruise respectively.

This is the channel that separates the Mombasa Island from the South coast. It is interesting to watch the locals use the ferry to cross from one side to another

This is a public place near the Likoni Ferry where locals come to relax and enjoy themselves. One can have picnics or enjoy a meal at the Chinese restaurants that are in the same vicinity.
